As I drive in my city I continue to take observations and understand the behavior of people I live with. For a few days I have been observing numerous cars that pass by on the roads of Karachi. What surprises me about these cars was I find out several of these cars are tied up under the rear bumper with a small piece of BLACK CLOTHING that hangs up there.
After doing a bit query about the concept in my circle of people I came across to know that the black cloth represents to avoid NAZAR, which sounded well as many of the muslims follow tying up black things for the purpose. But the question that continued to pop in my mind was why the black cloth could never be placed inside the car or even tied at the front bumper. Why is it always the left rear side of the rear bumper? Is it getting a part of another RASAM and people are unaware of why they are doing it?
I wonder Pakistani assembled cars will soon have these cloths as a part of accessories. People hanging the shoe at the rear bumper will be getting a "BATA" or an "EBH" shoe hanging at the back for free with a saloon model.
My point of writing all this up here is to just pass the message to all those who spend several money on there cars and by tying up one piece of black cloth think that they have done the job done. I have my request to all of them is whenever we spend all this money on our cars and put up these clothes thinking to avoid NAZAR why can't we just give away a little amount of sadqa for these luxuries and also help the society and the country in a better way too. My respect to everyone's ideology but our actions and prayers are more important if we can bring anything good to anyone's lives.

Truly said. We should practice giving sadqa n Khairaat to needy people to avoid Nazar. Even if m not mistaken there is a Hadith " Sadqa har beemari aur buri cheezon ko Taal daita hai "
ReplyDeleteSo putting Black cloth doesn't affect anything.
Loved the post bro! Exactly what I have been wondering about since years ... =)
ReplyDeleteRegards,
Sarosh Waiz
very interesting observation :)
ReplyDeleteI appreciate of all your valuable feedback. And as well said by Ammar, please spread the word for every word we spread will be counted on the big day.
ReplyDeleteWell said bro. The concept is good. When someone is spending some lacs of rupees for buying a car, they can definitely help others by spending some more hundreds or say thousands of bugs.
ReplyDeleteloved it.. great going Usman :)
ReplyDeletegood post - we need to make our people realize that this is all superstition and black cloth or black dhaga is not an Islamic tradition - this is coming again from other religions. Sadqa and Khairat is best
ReplyDelete@ Syed and Ahsan: thank you brothers. JAZAK ALLAH.. just spread the word and develop the sense among people.
ReplyDelete@ Beenish: truly said. thank you for sharing your thoughts !!
nice observation and well written..dont think need to add anything on this , jus keep the good thoughts flowing , atleast You r playing your part in doing something good for the society
ReplyDeletethank you sarfaraz...i expect the same from you always :)
ReplyDeleteGood observation...This thing is deeply injected in our society and we need to aware people about it. Sadly majority of our popoulation is illiterate and they follow such superstitions..
ReplyDeletehmmmm Nice
ReplyDeleteOk i have different perspective! Though i have never ever tied any cloth behind my Car. but buri Nazar is definitely something that exist.
ReplyDeleteI don't know the concept of putting a black cloth. I always thought that they also recite some holy versus on them. For that reason i never did it because at that part of car is always getting dirt.
Baqi yeh Sadqa is different per buri nazar phir bhi lagti hai, some people are to sensitive no matter what Sadqa they give as soon as people see some good things with them something bad happens.
Dear Quest /crash / junaid bhai :) ,
ReplyDeleteNAZAR is obviously something all of us as a muslim believe in. The point highlighted was SADQA is the way to escape NAZAR not BLACK CLOTHES.
Usman :)
Dear Usman,
ReplyDeleteBundle of Thanks for your reviews
My take is they just don't do it to avoid Sadqa , they might are so afraid and frightened of Car burning and other incidents, this is such a bad time for people living in the country which is going to the dogs, Man is Afraid of the Man(human) getting so much security and cautions in their houses its really a bad time.
Thanks a tonne for this post
Expect from you Dearest Brother.
Hale and hearty for your Comment
Millions of thanks.

ReplyDeleteInteresting discussion we have going on here. Well the way I see after living with Hindus for so long Muslims have subconciously adopted things that Hindus used to practice.
ReplyDeleteIf we look at a broader perspective we will find such things exist in other cultures as well. For example, look at any hollywood vampire movie, the hero or heroine keeps a cross sign which for some reason keeps the vampire away :)
My viewpoint I think we humans want flashy and dramatic things. We need Quran parha hoa Pani, black cloth etc etc to satisfy ourselves. If we can just ask ourselves a question like "what did Prophet SAW did in this situation?" We be this way we might get a simpler solution.
Thank you so much really saif bhai for sharing your view. Highly appreciated. And your suggestion keeping it all simple is awesome. We should not make it complex and just see the ideal person ever for the mankind to understand life.
ReplyDeletewell all these are just because today we dont have firm believe in Allah and most of the people are just following others saying whats the harm in doing so..... :)
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with Ammar Haider when he says that we should give sadqa and khairat to avoid nazar instead of tying up clothes and shoes to car bumpers.
ReplyDeleteSome people hang the little chappals of their kids and this is mostly noted behind trucks and rickshaws. I personally think baby shoes are cute but gari k peeche? :s I'll take a picture next time though :)
That's what I have been trying to tell people that our educated sector should realize ke How important sadqa is before its tooo late
